The Philippines has a new President
My beloved country, the Philippines has its 15th president inaugurated today - BENIGNO AQUINO III. I was following it Live through ANC Live feeds, Twitter and Facebook. I was updating my facebook profile almost every 5 minutes of the latest happenings of the event. It was fun! I was excited and happy to witness this special event in our country although we are not physically there. We have been living abroad for almost three years now but our hearts and hopes still belong to our mother land. Definitely, no one can question that, there is no place like home.
Charice Pempengco sang the National Anthem and she sang it with the correct tempo. This has been a big deal lately because some artists (includes Arnel Pineda of Journey) who sang it during the Manny Pacquiao's fight, done it on their own style instead of sticking to the original tempo/beat (marching) of the song. So the National Historical Institute(NHI) is not happy, artists making it too ballad. -This is just side story.
Alright, so the newly inaugurated president had a 20+ minutes speech mostly in Tagalog. We have heard the synopsis of his plan for the country. We are hopeful that he can make a difference in the governance this time. We will do our part as a citizen. We hope for the better Philippines. We hope for a better future in our land.
God bless PRESIDENT NINOY AQUINO and VP Jejomar Binay. We pray to the Lord that He will guide you to honest and meaningful governance.
MABUHAY!

JustAcia : Affordable but good food
Last week (Wednesday, 23rd June) hubby and I + Hershey went for a date . We were suppose to eat at Subway, as we have agreed on before - from this blog entry but the plan has change when we were roaming around Downtown East - the mall is just few walks away from our block.
It was a last minute decision, Subway vs JustAcia and hubby finally decided to dine at JustAcia when we reached the place. This is my second time to eat there and Marvin's nth time. :D My first experience was very good so I don't have any problem with dining here again. Their menu includes both set and ala carte meals. What good about their set meals is that it comes with free flow drinks (hot coffee/cappucino/lemonade/icedtea/soda) and ice cream + it's affordable, I think price starts at S$6.90. If you choose ala carte, ofcourse it has big servings compared to the set meals but you have to top up S$2.50 for free flow drink+ice cream.
Like the first time, I again chose ramen + crispy chicken meal with kimchi! La-love!
Daddy ordered pork-katsu
The place is also kid friendly. They have playing area so Hershey can play while waiting for our food to be served. :) Just look at how happy she is...

Pastries by Cedele : eat well, be well
This has been one of our favorites. :) My Australian colleague Tim introduced this to me. First we got a taste of their Rosemary Chicken sandwich - "Our cafe hot favourite! The unpretentious rosemary chicken sandwich on focaccia bread wraps fresh chicken meat marinated with our rosemary infused olive oil and cranberry sauce.", man it was heaven! :)
For their pastries my first love is the Mexican wedding cookies - vegetarian. It is also called the Russian tea cake. The recipe is simple, this is just made up of flour, water, butter and ground nuts then coated with powdered sugar after baking. Sweet!
And today, we got boxes of different kinds of Cedele pastries in the pantry, as usual. :) I just ate Blueberry Crumble Pie! YUM!
If you are dropping by Singapore, you may want to visit the place. They are almost anywhere :D

Potty Training my toddler
Last year, a friend gave me an e-book for potty training, I read through the first few pages but thought it was complicated for me. Sorry. Also my daughter was just 1+ year old that time, thought I might as well try it when she turns two - although I believe it's also good to train them early, maybe i am just lazy. :D So even if there is no serious training for Hershey, I am already introducing this idea to her, from time to time when I am at home I don't let her wear her diaper anymore and instead tell her to let me know if she has to piddle or poo. For many times she won't really tell me she will but run to the bathroom and exactly at the doorstep, she would yell with frustration, "Mommy, wee-wee na!". I felt she really feels she failed me and herself and so encouragingly I would tell her she'll do better next time and she'll smile back and ask me to wash her instead. :D
Weeks ago it has been a discussion in our online FemaleNetwork forum and I thought of looking into this again with H. My other friend bought some training pants for her kid to start their potty training. I thought it was a good idea but I don't want to buy first. Let me just start with a heart to heart conversation with my child again. So I sat down with her and reminded her about it.
I get the nanny involve, she can guide Hershey when I am not home. The solution, we didn't let her wear diapers at home anymore and just time to time ask her if she wants to pee. It was not successful at first, come weekends, I was at home and the first pee for the day (morning) she asked me to take off her underpants, "Mommy, wee-wee." Happy! And the same scenario the whole day and the next. So now, Hershey is officially potty trained when it comes to pee-ing (til the present).
Hopefully we can train her to use the potty chair when poo-ing. :) She's a smart kid anyway, I'm sure it will not be a problem.
P.S I can't think of the best place to put her potty chair. I thought of placing it beside her shoe rack, near the living room and in front of her room door. LOL It's the most convenient place for her. Nearest to her playing area around the house. She can just run/sit on it easily.

PostItNoteTues + Charice is ON Glee Season 2!
Oh yeah, so according to EW.com "...Sources confirm to me exclusively that the international pop star is signed, sealed, and delivered to recur next season as a foreign exchange student whose killer vocals get Rachel (Lea Michele) contemplating murder."
She at first denied this rumor but they say it is for real this time. :) Wow. This is something exciting. I remember the GLEE casts guested on Oprah and Oprah had dubbed Charice as "the most talented girl in the world." plus I think Oprah is also part of Charice' international career.
From Wiki: Dubbed by Oprah Winfrey as the Most Talented Girl in the World,[1] she is the first Asian in history to land in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart.
So what do you think? Something to look forward on...
Weekends, 19th & 20th June 2010
We went to ToysRUS (Toys Us, as how my daughter says it) last Saturday and bought some stuff for H. We bought her Crayola non toxic finger paints, Crayola Art smock - which we haven't used yet because we had a busy weekend, a kite, and 24-pcs MegaBlocks which she loves and I wonder why I haven't bought her this one sooner. Maybe because I thought she already has her set of fake legos which should be enough. LOL
So last Sunday, aside from going to church, we went for a Father's day BBQ party at Costa Sands together with our Filipino community churchmates. This is how we usually spend our time together outside church, we eat, be merry and exchange testimonies. :) We really can't get over it. There are just so many things to be thankful for in our lives - on our happy or even sad moments.
Some pictures with my husband, daughter, my brother (our pastor) and my niece together with their other
swimming buddies.
Hershey soooo happy! And dad is all smiles too on Father's day! With the goggles is my niece Nikki.
There's my brother holding H and our friend, Jenny.
Happy father's day again to all daddies! God bless you... ♥♥♥

Probable late gifts for FATHER'S DAY
Happy Fathers' Day to all daddies! I already have given my husband our silly gifts to him 2 weeks ago, I blogged about it here and I think he was happy when he received it. Yesterday, we had a celebration with our churchmates in Costa Sands Pasir Ris, they had barbecue party + swimming. I am still thinking of what to give to Marvin for father's day. It will be a late gift already but it doesn't matter.
Here are the things I am planning to buy, buy one or buy all! It depends! LOL
1) Lacoste Swerve Sneakers. He has the white/blue version of this but still wants the black one as he wants more comfortable shoes when playing guitar - well, when stepping on his guitar effect pedals. It should be black because they wear formal attire at church, so the shoes even if it's rugged will compliment. It won't be too obvious from a far anyway.
2) His old time favorite cologne. He feels more handsome if he uses this. LOL
3) Dry cabinet. We've scout for the cheapest but good quality of this few months back but he hasn't reminded me to buy him this yet again so I think it would be best to have one soon so he can protect the fortunes he already have on lenses. LOL
UPDATE: I bought him instead Creative speaker for his Ipod. :)
