It was Easter Sunday yesterday but we were just home and just went to Church as usual in the evening. Actually we planned to go somewhere before heading Church but it was very hot outside. We just instead stayed in our room, set the aircon at 16° and just enjoyed our family time under the sheets.
Marvin went to church earlier so we were left home bored, just Facebook-ing. Manang Ji-ji thought it was best to make some banana que. Without further ado, I nod in agreement and asked her to buy what's needed. I must admit that I missed it. I think the last time I had a stick of banana que was 2 years ago when we were in the PH for vacation.
Let me share to you our quest to Singapore made but authentic Filipino street food the BANANA QUE.
Our ingredients include: 1) Ripe bananas [12 pcs.] 2) brown sugar 3) cooking oil 4) bbq sticks
a) Cut one end of the banana to peel it off from its skin.
b) Heat up the cooking oil and when it is ready put the brown sugar under medium fire.
c) Caramelize the brown sugar and when you see it is ready, put the bananas. This time they should be in slow fire to prevent overcooking the sugar.
d) Mix well the bananas until it is fully coated with caramelized sugar.
e) They should be ready after 10 minutes.
f) Remove the well coated bananas from the pan and drain excess oil.
g) To make it more authentic use the banana skewer and serve.
* You may also use Potatoes to replace the bananas. That would taste best as well. Serve them with Coke!
Blessings ♥
